The Olympiapark Munich is a popular attraction for tourists and locals alike. Our Hostel Munich wants to give you all the important information about the Olympiapark Munich, in order for you to be well-prepared for your next visit there.

History of the Olympiapark Munich

Until 1938 the area was part of the Munich-Oberwiesenfeld Airport. Afterwards the military used it as an exercise area for the German Air Force. In 1972 the area was then repurposed and refitted for the 20th Olympic Games. The Olympiastadion as well as several sports fields were built at that time and stand to this day. Even today, Olympiapark Munich is a popular location for a variety events as well as for lectures and services of any religion. Another famous event that also takes place at the Olympiapark Munich is the summer Tollwood Festival.

Things to do while visiting the Olympiapark

Olympiaturm:
How about enjoying Munich from above? Ride the elevator to the top of the famous Olympia Tower and take in the sight of our beautiful city. Everything seems so small from up there. The top of the tower also offers you a rock music museum, which displays items such as rare signed guitars, clothes, concert tickets and many more.

Munich Olympic Walk of Stars:
Olympiapark Munich is a place where world famous celebrities come together. This has been documented since 2003 with a pathway on the banks of the Olympic Lake. National and international legends left their handmarks on the floor’s concrete – and they will continue to do so. Come and take a look at the marks of the world-famous Dalai Lama, David Copperfield, Bon Jovi, Kylie Minogue and many more.

Olympiastadion:
The Olympiapark Munich, of course, offers its famous sports stadion. Book a guide or explore the Olympiastadion by yourself. Also, don’t miss out on enjoying a concert or a sports game there as well.

Sea Life:
At the Olympiapark you can also go deep down into a fascinating underwater world. At our Sea Life Aquarium you can experience a variety fish and other animals from rivers, lakes, seas and oceans. Join the daily feedings, walk through the amazing ten meter tunnel underneath the ocean water pool – or let your children celebrate an unforgettable birthday party there.

Park Railway:
Take a trip through the Olympiapark Munich with our park railway. It rides every day from march until November. But be aware that there are no rides during events because of closed roads.
